Our Take:

  • Microsoft is shifting its partner benefits strategy by enhancing new packages while phasing out legacy offerings.
  • Starting January 2025, over 20 new licenses, including key products like Copilot for Microsoft 365, will be available in the updated benefits packages.
  • Partners relying on legacy gold and silver benefits must act quickly, as these will not be renewable after January 22, 2025.
  • The top-tier Partner Success Expanded Benefits package is being heavily promoted, with a high cost but substantial value in software, support, and credits.

Microsoft is updating its partner benefits packages, adding over 20 new product licenses to its current offerings, including Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. This move, effective January 22, 2025, is part of a broader shift away from legacy benefits like the gold and silver tiers, which will no longer be available for renewal after this date. Partners who still hold these legacy benefits can continue to use them for 12 months post-renewal but won’t receive any new licenses.

Microsoft is encouraging partners to transition to the Partner Success Expanded Benefits package, priced at $3,995 per year, which offers significant software value and support services. This package includes 38 software products, $4,000 in Azure credits, and extensive technical support, making it a compelling option for those looking to maximize their partnership with Microsoft.
